grant making
ACT awards grants to applications related to Cambridge University Hospitals
Any departments, wards or clinics within Addenbrooke's and the Rosie hospitals can submit a proposal to ACT's Trustees showing an urgent need for funds to buy new equipment, undertake environmental enhancements or to support small projects. The proposal must show a strong outline on how the extra funding will benefit their patients and staff.
The ACT Trustees meet quarterly to review the proposals and award the grants.

In 2009/10 ACT's grants commitee approved 55 grants for research projects, leading-edge equipment, specialist staff and environmental enhancements within the NHS Foundation Trust.
Just a few of those successful applications include:
- Urodynamics equipment upgrade
- Ultrasound machine for Paediatric Intensive Care Unit
- Refurbishment of Oncology Ward D9 nurses’ station and ward reception
-
Sensory Room on Children’s Surgical Ward D2
-
Research projects:
- The use of vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) in Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS)
- Investigating the significance of a new biomarker of dementia: TDP-43
- Development Origins of Type 2 Diabetes: Tolerance of Fasting and Circulating IGF-I Levels
