Cheryl's Morocco Trek
14 April 2010
In March 2010 Cheryl Sayers took part in her fourth trek – the Jebel Sarhro mountains in Morocco – to raise over £4,000 for prostate cancer research in memory of her late husband Pete Sayers aka Dennis of Grunty Fen.
Cheryl and two friends spent ten days on a camping trek adventure through the sub-Atlas range Jebel Sarhro mountains in Morocco, covering 130kms, all in aid of prostate cancer research.
Cheryl said: "I was amazed at how varied the terrain is plus we were very remote. There were just three of us with a guide called Mohamed and three mule handlers with their mules carrying tents etc.
"I always find long days of trekking and climbing help you to dig into yourself and see the bigger picture of life.
"With seven hours walking that seems to just go on and on, you know at least there is an end when you finally see the tents! With an illness like cancer the end seems unobtainable and out of your hands. Helping people back to health is so very important."
