The Gala 2009
The Gala 2009 is ACT’s first signature networking event to take place in the magnificent surroundings of King’s College. The event will be compered by Sir David Frost, and will include a showcase audiovisual presentation to demonstrate how charitable funding benefits patients both at Addenbrooke’s and around the world, and a short presentation from Professor Alastair Compston, one of our most distinguished clinicians, on the highly effective new treatment he is trialling for the treatment of patients with multiple sclerosis.
After dinner, there will be a special operatic interlude by the distinguished soprano Amanda Roocroft and bass baritone Richard Lloyd Morgan. This spectacular evening will conclude with a short auction of a few select items including two wonderful paintings by John Bellany RA, to be conducted by Lord Archer.
The Gala will raise money towards ACT’s Research Fellowships which support promising young clinicians. The programme has now been in place for two years and five fellowships have been funded, which have enabled vital research studies to be undertaken whilst providing research experience to enhance the fellowship recipients’ applications for national clinical research fellowships.
