Global Health Partnerships
We believe that global health partnerships are the best way to bring about positive, supportive and sustainable change in healthcare globally. Our partnerships programmes are based on long term commitment by all collaborators, they work closely together to share their knowledge, strengthen training and ultimately improve patient care both overseas and at home within the NHS.
We support global health programmes with partners in Botswana, El Salvador and Myanmar. We are also collaborating with the Cambridge Africa Programme, Cambridge University on a programme to improve maternal health outcomes at Mulago Hospital, Uganda.
This model is of mutual learning and there is considerable personal and professional development benefits for those staff that challenge themselves to volunteer in this way. Our staff report strengthened clinical and training skills and increased confidence which they bring back to their work within CUH and the wider NHS.
UK Government support NHS staff to engage in global health and our work has been endorsed by the UK Department of Health, the Department for International Development and the UK All-Party Parliamentary Group on Global Health.
