Medical Support in Romania (MSR) exists for the relief of sickness in Eastern & Central Europe, especially Romania, through the promotion of high standards of health care and good clinical practice.

Recent events summary:

  • February visit by Mr Ioan Muresan, General Manager, Salaj District Hospital, Zalau, Romania and Carmen Cojan RN (interpreter & MSR Policy Adviser) to enable Mr Muresan to see how a modern hospital works and learn about the hospital visited by so many of his staff. He has been in post for a year and is not clinical. Mr Ioan Muresan had a comprehensive visit which included: Estates and Facilities; A&E; Infection Control; Hotel services; Radiology; Pathology; PALS; Finance; Theatres; Sterile Services and Pharmacy.

  • Visit by Mr Eugen Nicolăescu, the Romanian Minister of Public Health who visited Cambridge University Hospital on 15 March 2008, with HE Ion Jinga, Romania Ambassador & Mrs Daniela Jinga, Dr Adrian Pană, Director of General Policies, Strategies & Quality and Mr Victor Mora, Minister Counsellor on Informatics Health Management. Mr Patrick Colquhoun, MSR Director, also attended the visit. The visit was arranged by Bill Metcalf and Daniela Florea of Geo Strategies Ltd, Cambridge, who have been known to MSR for many years. The group received a presentation from Mr Richard Howe regarding Addenbrooke’s – its past, present and future. Their tour of the ATC included theatres and sterile services. The tour was completed within the Accident Department. Then the group had lunch and discussions with both Dr Archer and Dr Goodier.
