Support the Big C cancer campaign by writing your will
Throughout September a group of solicitors and will-writers across Cambridgeshire have kindly agreed to waive their fees and write or update a simple will, in return for you making a donation to support cancer services at Addenbrooke’s.
Making or updating your will can be more affordable and straightforward than you think. It is vital to have an up-to-date will, otherwise your wishes may not be carried out and your family, loved ones and the charities close to your heart may not benefit.
Funds raised will help support the Big C cancer campaign at Addenbrooke’s, helping fund areas of most urgent need across the oncology department, such as vital research, innovative technologies and patient care. Eleven people at Addenbrooke’s face a new cancer diagnosis each and every day. As a UK leading cancer care specialist, we want to ensure that each of those patients has access to quality patient care.
Tom Taylor, who updated his will through the scheme previously, said: “We had been putting it off as I thought it would be expensive and complicated. However, it was easy to make an appointment and the solicitor was excellent. We got a really good service. I'm pleased we've got it done now, it gives us peace of mind. Several of our family members have been treated in the Oncology Department and they talk a lot about the amazing care they received. So it is great to know that we've helped make that possible.”

Please note that appointments are limited and this initiative is best suited to simple estates. In order to raise funds for the cancer appeal, we ask for your donation to reflect the professional service received, and suggest a minimum donation of £150.
Participating in Make a Will Month is also an excellent time to consider if you would like to leave a gift in your will to benefit future patients, although this is of course not obligatory. This brochure shows how donations in wills, of whatever size, can transform care for future generations at Addenbrooke’s and the Rosie.
